Hutridurga (Uttari Betta) is a popular trekking destination and a place of historical importance, located just 65 km from Bangalore.

A trek to your destination takes you through the ruins of a centuries-old castle and into the jungle. The lush green vegetation in and around the hills contains the remains of a 16th century castle.

Historically, the Hutturdurga hill is of great importance. It is surrounded by forts and hills, as the name Huturidurga suggests. The fort was built by Kempe Gowda, the builder of Bangalore.

It is one of the 5 major forts built by Kempegowda. Here Kempegowda established a bullet-making unit for his military rifles.

On top of the hill is the temple of Sri Sankareshwara. There is a lake on the opposite side of the temple.
